Collection one synopsis
My concept is about the battle between the natural world and the material world. My theme is the environment and i've set my collection in the future, in a post apocalyptic atmosphere where the socirty are cyborgs (half human half machine hybrids.) I've focused on how anture has an ongoing battle with the material world and it's development of buildings and machines, and how natural and urban development are continually fighting for space in our world, and how it will continue into the future. The cyborgs character i've used is also symbolic of the battle between the two worlds, with it being half natural (human) and half material (machine) hybrid. I was initially inspired for this idea form the small shrubs growing through the brick buildings in the botanical gardens, and i started researching into reclaimed land and then into the apocalypse. I've used a dark green and lots of ruffles in my designs to help in representing the natural side of my garments and a rusted metal an more structured silhouette to help represent the material world side of my garments. I've tied all my designs together through the use of colour and silhouette by making all the designs have a cinched in waist and the same threee colours.
